The Nifty Fifty Club

A goal has been accomplished and today we celebrated!  Clark has now visited all 50 states!  He accomplished the goal with a week long fishing trip to Alaska!

Tim had the idea that we should have a party when he came home.  He told Romney and she took off with it.  They planned food and decorations and a symbolic gift.  Romney gave everyone food assignments and made sure it all happened!  Here is a quick overview!

Romney came over while we were at church and decorated...All American style!

Clark was surprised!  Here is his first view of the decorations...

Jocelyn gave him leis and hugs!

And he posed for "official" pictures....and Instagrams!

While some people finished cooking, he told fish stories to the rest of the family!

Then we had the celebration dinner...Texas Toast, Hawaiian pineapple, Florida oranges, California
strawberries, (Green River) Utah watermelon, Kentucky fried chicken, Idaho potatoes, Wisconsin
cauliflower soup and Nebraska corn on the cob!  All the food was labeled with flags and there was
a lot of it!  And for dessert we had a choice of Washington apple pie and Klondike ice cream bars!!

And finally, we gave him a framed map of the United States made out of pictures of license plates!
It can hang in his office and be a conversation piece of all the places he has travelled!

After dinner, Clark and Adam were comparing how many countries they have each visited...
Adam 12 and Clark 10...
That is a party for another day!!

Disney Days

I am finally getting back to scrapbooking after a couple of months of fun!  My last post was April, we will skip over May and jump right to our family vacation in June!  I agree with my niece, Jessica, that having pictures is a great way to remember how much fun we had!  These are all the two page spreads that will end up in a book at the end of the year.  So here are three days at Disneyland and California Adventure and one day at the beach and an Angels baseball game.

Jocelyn had a goal of getting lots of autographs!  We saw more characters than
I think I have seen in all my other trips combined!  Romney made her a cute album
of autographs and pictures that she can carry around and look at.  This is my version
of her getting signatures and posing for pictures!

Last Ones!

These are the last set of pages I have done, so I am going to have to get busy this week and finish some more pages so I can keep posting.  Mostly, I need to finish them so I don't get too far behind!

Travel Tuesday

I went out of town on Friday and forgot to post my pages.  So instead of Photoshop Friday, you get Travel Tuesday...which is appropriate because these pictures are from our trip to Florida!
(in case you don't know...if you click on the picture it will open bigger and you can read
the journaling!)

Photoshop Friday

For the last four years, I have been keeping a picture a day album.  I take a picture (almost) every day, put them together by the week and print a book as soon as the year ends.  I love it!  I have either done them with physical photos in a scrapbook album or online in a digital album on Shutterfly or some other company that was carrying the Project Life online album.  This year, they have released all their papers and journaling in digital format as well as physical product so I can just create my own pages in photoshop and at the end of the year print the album.  This offers way more digital choices than in the past so I am loving it.  This is is the first time it is really easy to post what I have created, so I decided I could use it as a weekly blog post!  That will keep me posting way more often than in the past!  I finally think I have figured out my format and how to do it, so I am a couple of weeks behind in the creating pages area, but I figure this way I can post one tonight and I have a week to get the next one done.  I hope you enjoy them!  (FYI-if you click on the picture it will enlarge so it is easier to see...I just learned that!)

The 50th Is On the Way!

I know, since it is my blog you think I am talking about my 50th birthday, but I am not!
This time I am referring to Clark's 50th state, Alaska.  Friday he got this email..

There was a contest among the agents in this region from June to December and there were a few ways you could earn a fishing trip to Alaska.  You could sell the most insurance in $ amounts or have the most applications or you could be picked from a drawing with one entry per application submitted during the contest.  Clark won the drawing!  (He did sell the second biggest case at the end of the year, but it hasn't closed, so it didn't count, so he deserved to win the drawing, in my opinion!!)
I thought our kids comments were pretty funny...

Tim:  Way to go, Dad!
Merrili:  Loves this.
Romney:  Awesome!  When do you get to go?
Scott:  Awesome, that would be a blast.
Adam:  This looks like spam.
Jordan:  Romney meant to say when do WE get to go!
Maddy:  Loves this.
Missy:  Loves this.
Caleb:  Give us the dates so we can clear our schedules!

Anyway, I am excited for him to finish his goal of going to all 50 states in such a fun way!
