A "Tangled" Table

Caleb had an end of year banquet to honor the seniors in his performing group, Acting Up! I volunteered to decorate a table. The theme choices they gave were Broadway, Disney or Celebrate. I was asking Caleb what to do and something came up about "Tangled" and we went off talking about funny things from the movie...we decided a frying pan would make a good plate and we could use these root beer mugs that would look like they fit the pub scene when Rapunzel first gets out of the tower. Then we joked about the ceramic unicorn...after a trip to the dollar store, some more conversations, and help from lots of creative people, this is what we ended up with...

"Tangled" Chair Hair...this was Caleb's idea and I think it turned out pretty cool!

A frying pan plate and a mug with the "Snuggly Duckling" logo and a quote with the saying
"I Have a Dream" a great theme for seniors...
Ok, we messed up on that. It is actually "I've Got a Dream" but in our excitement of finding a "theme", thank you, Romney, we misquoted, but we get cool points for writing it in a Disney font! (thanks to my friend, Dana, and her ability to cut vinyl letters in a cool font on very short notice!)

We tried to wrap things up with a few movie details...the healing flowers, Pascal, Rapunzel's lizard friend, and Vladmir's ceramic unicorn...straight from the dollar store with an added horn thanks to Maddy's sweet clay molding skills!

But I have to say, the piece de resistance, was the floating lanterns! And can I say, those pieces did resist! We had great plans for putting yellow balloons in paper bag lanterns so they would float, but a helium balloon can't lift the weight of a bag stuck over it! After many tries in the party store, we thought we had it right. But, no. Fortunately, we figured out some things at home and after a few more adjustments at the venue, Voila!, we saw the floating lanterns gleam, well, at least float! Not exactly how I pictured it, but it worked.

So there you have it, our "Tangled" party table. So, if anyone is in a party mode and "Tangled" is your theme, I have all the supplies!

What I Love About Jessica...

Jessica is my really cute, fun, stylish, talented niece who has decided to make the move with her family away from Utah. That is great for her and her family, not so great for those of us who like being around her! In the spirit of Jessica's blogs when she tells us ten things she loves about someone, I wanted to make sure she knew some of the things I love about her and I know that so many other people will come to know her and love her like I do! Jessica is...

*Patient...I have never heard her raise her voice or get angry.
*Stylish...always dressed in some cute outfit even if nothing exciting is happening!
*A talented photographer...everything looks better, brighter and more fun when you see it through her eyes!
*A great decorator/designer
*A fun wife/mom - she can turn the everyday things into a party!
*Adventurous-travel, skydiving, skiing, college-hopping, she is willing to try lots of things!
*Awesome Aunt-who wouldn't want her to be your babysitter?
*Laid back Mom...whatever happens, happens and she goes with it, usually with a smile!
*Great Blogger-with her pictures and her journaling, she always tells a fun story and she does it often!
*Thoughtful/Insightful-like her Mom, can give you something to think about or a new way to look at things.
*Funny-the girl can make me laugh!
I guess that is more than 10 and I could go on! I just want you to know I love you and can't wait to follow you and your family through your blog!
